TIFF output for archives and image workflows
Some records systems, print departments and publishing tools ask for TIFF rather than PDF. Here, the browser opens the document and paints each page onto a fresh image. Page one becomes the first numbered TIFF, page two the next, and so on. With a single-page PDF you receive the image directly; larger documents arrive in a ZIP.
This is a page rendering, not an extraction of pictures already stored inside the PDF. Everything visible on a page, including text and annotations, becomes part of the image. Screen or print resolution?
The screen setting is quicker and keeps the download manageable. Print renders each page at a higher scale, which helps small lettering and line art survive when the TIFF is printed again. Since TIFF stores a large amount of image data, the print option can use noticeably more memory on long documents.
Common questions
Do I get a multi-page TIFF?
No. Each PDF page becomes its own .tiff image. A document with two or more pages is delivered as a ZIP so the files stay together and retain their page order.
Which resolution should I choose?
Screen is usually enough for viewing, reference copies and web use. Print renders more pixels and is better for detailed diagrams or later printing, but it takes longer and creates substantially larger files.
Will searchable PDF text remain searchable?
TIFF is an image format, so text, links, form fields and document bookmarks become pixels. Keep the original PDF when you need those features.
Can it open a password-protected PDF?
The browser will ask for the password when the document requires one. If you do not know it, the pages cannot be rendered.
Where is the PDF processed?
Page rendering and TIFF encoding run locally in your browser. The selected document is not uploaded for this conversion.
